We are a Youth Leadership Movement
We are passionately driven by one cause, peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential
AIESEC was established in 1948 after World War II
where seven youth across seven countries had a dream of building cross-cultural understanding across nations. They hoped to change the world, one person and one internship at a time. Making your contribution and seeing your impact in real-time will show you that you can indeed make a difference the world. Become that world citizen that’s needed more than ever. In 2015, AIESEC’s youth leaders from 126 countries and territories in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth gathered at the United Nations Headquarters to promote and drive youth participation in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The relevance and contribution of AIESEC is clearer than ever.
Striving for Excellence
We give the best in everything we do. Through creativity and innovation we try to grow constantly.
We are consistent with our values and transparent about the decisions, actions and responsibilities that we assume.
We give the example through our actions. We take responsibility for encouraging the growth and development of potential.
We create a positive and dynamic environment, in which everyone feels free to confront each other, encouraging everyone’s participation and involvement.
We want to learn from the different ways of living and thinking, respecting and encouraging everyone’s active contribution.
We act sustainably taking into consideration the needs of future generations and our society.
“The AIESEC way is to strive for Peace and Fulfilment of humankind’s potential. We do this by creating opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges”
The leadership we develop
Engage with all kinds of people towards achieving a purpose bigger than yourself. It’s how you can empower others.
Volunteering abroad isn’t easy, but surpassing challenges is what makes it worth it. You learn how to be solution-oriented.
Making your contribution and seeing your impact in real-time will show you that you can indeed make a difference the world. Become that world citizen that’s needed more than ever.
Going beyond what you know opens up new worlds for you. Find your values, explore your passions, and become more self-aware.

More about AIESEC
What is AIESEC?
AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. We are a non-political, independent, not-for-profit organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership, and management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion or national/social origin.
Since we were founded, we have engaged and developed over 1,000,000 young people who have been through an AIESEC experience. The impact of our organization can be seen through our alumni who represent business, NGO and world leaders, including one Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Martti Atisaari of Finland.
We are a global network of young leaders under the age of 30 who strive to better themselves and the communities around them. We are passionate about world issues, leadership development, cultural understanding and experiential learning.
The organisation spans 126 countries and territories and every aspect of AIESEC’s operations are managed by students and recent graduates.
We have operated in this way since our inception, making us uniquely “by young people, for young people”, for over 65 years. The global leadership teams are elected by the membership annually.
Independent & Non-Political
AIESEC does not have a pre-defined or officially accepted political tendency or subscription.
AIESEC is not a subsidiary or dependent entity of any other bodies in its work, sustainability or decisions.
We are in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), affiliated with the UN DPI, member of ICMYO, and is recognised by UNESCO.
Who can be an AIESECer?
AAnyone who believes in the AIESEC vision, supports the mission of AIESEC, and lives by the AIESEC values is a part of the youth leadership movement, and hence is an AIESECer. They can be our partners who relate to our organizational values and vision, or it can be our parents who constantly support us to give our best to our leadership development journeys.
The leadership we develop
In AIESEC, we believe that youth are the key to shaping a better future. Through each and every experience we provide, we strive to develop youth leaders!
